What’s more, everything about this drone works seamlessly. The app is stable, the gimbal performs flawlessly, and the latest firmware update seems to have ironed out any minor kinks that others may have encountered. Speaking of performance, the range is exceptional, with signal retention over 2 miles away. And don’t worry about chilly weather – this drone handles temperatures like a champ, with battery life holding strong and performance unaffected.

After watching all the videos online and reading all the positive comments I decided to try this Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Gimbal 4K GPS, Under 249g, 96 Mins Flight Time, Drone. It looked really good and flew great the first few times. I was really happy. No problem.. I had 21 satellites and it was flying in the GPS Mode.. But after a few take offs and landings, when I launched the drone, it would not hover., it started to wander side by side. I launched it about a dozen times and the same thing happened… It did not hover.. I installed the app again and started all over again, re-setting the compass and rebooting the drone and the remote.. When launching the drone again, it lifted off the pad fine but still wouldn’t hover… I still had 21 satellites in the GPS mode and there was no wind blowing at all.. Calm as ever. This drone has a problem.. I was afraid to take it higher than 8 feet since it started to wonder around and I couldn’t control it and I had to land it… So, I got a bad one.. After reading lots of negative reviews online, I know what they are talking about.. Mine was acting similar to what others were experiencing. I am really afraid of trying another one since I will probably get another bad one, so I boxed it up and I returned it. I am not happy with the performance of it at all.. I have a half a dozen holy stone drones and none of them every acted this way, and most of them have the GPS feature, but none of them have a gimbal camera system, and the photos and videos are horrible. I wanted this new one for is the 3-axis gimbal feature as it make the videos look amazing.. I take lots of videos and photos. I am not a newbie and know how to fly drones, it is just that this one didn’t want to fly for me.. I got a bad one and I am not pleased about that and that is why I returned it. Now I have to wait for 16 days to get my money refunded, how crazy is that?

Update: September 5th, 2024
Since there were too many positive comments and videos on this drone, I just knew I had got a bad one, I decided to try another, so I ordered and received a new Potensic ATOM., which I am currently testing now.. This new one seems to be working great and it hovers very well., no deviation at all in the wind at about 8 mph.. I have made a few videos with it so far. Several times, I took it up to 30 meters, yawed it 360 degrees from right to left , stopping frequently and then landed it., and so far everything looks very good… I will be testing it out daily. (weather permitting. ) There are a lot of features about it that I don’t need, but for the most part everything looks good.. The 4K videos are stunningly beautiful and there was no lag or jerkiness in them at all.. I have a few things yet to test out, including the RTH feature and how to set the parameters in the app. So far, so good…

Update: September 6th,2024
I have uploaded a video to show how stable this ATOM will hover and return to home… I took the drone up to 50 meters and yawed it around 360 degrees and then landed it using the RTH feature.. It worked flawless. Wind was about 6 – 8 mph at the time.. The quality of the original 4K video is wonderful. This uploaded version has been crunched down to 1080p at less than 280mb so as I could upload to Amazon easily. All in all, I am still testing the drone and will post more information in the coming days.. So far, I am very happy with this ATOM and how stable it is.. So, would I buy another? Yes, without hesitation.

The Potensic Atom is an impressive drone that offers advanced features, ease of flying, and affordability. One of the standout features of the Potensic Atom is its 3-axis gimbal and its flight stability in high winds. I’ve had this drone for over a year, and it never disappoints. Do I recommend it? Yes! But I would opt for the ATOM 2 with a better camera.

Purchased the Atom 3 axis gimble fly more kit in February 2024.
I have only put maybe 2 hours of flight time on this Drone as I have been busy with outdoor projects. Today I had some free time and thought I would get some Drone time in. When I powered on the Drone and entered the Potensic app, there was a Firmware update notice to version 3.4.5. I decided to go ahead with the update since I had a fully charged Batteries and Controller. After the update I noticed my Gimble would not stay in the neutral position and would drift all the way up on its own. So I powered everything off, exited the App and tried again with same issue. I tried calibrating the Gimble but it did not fix the issue. Tried calibrating the remote control and was not able to complete the process because the Gimble control did not respond correctly.
Powered off everything again, this time I could complete the remote control calibration but the Gimble still would pan up all the way and would not hold the position set.
Ok, I give up and try contacting Potensic support, we will see how good the Customer service is at Potensic.
Everything else works like it should, just the Gimble issue. This a deal breaker for me because I bought this for the great reviews and image quality at the price
I really hope Potensic will stand behind their product. I will update this review when/if I get a response from Potensic. After working with Potensic I decided this drone may be defective and returned it for a refund and went back to the drawing board to research another sub 249g Drone to purchase.
UPDATE – Potensic reached out to me and offered to send me a new drone Kit with single battery to give the Potensic another try. Sure glad theyHorizoe received the new drone today 7/24/2024 and immediately started charging the Battery and Remote control. After a full charge I went thru and loaded the Potensic app, calibrated everything and went out to do some test flying. WOW! The Camera Gimble worked flawlessly, it did not move up or down by itself and the Horizon was dead flat. The video looked great, smooth and seemless. Battery life is very good and charges quickly. I went thru all the preconfigured quick shots, tried the GPS mapping, RTH feature, shot video at 4K 30fps, took pictures and I have to say this Drone really performs extremely well for the price paid.
I am extremely glad Potensic reached out to me and asked me to give them another chance. So in conclusion, I would like to give a much deserved shout out to Potensic customer service for making EVERY EFFORT to add another happy customer to the ever expanding number of people who are flying Potensic Atom Drones, and thank you for not giving up on me!
I would recommend this Atom Drone to family and friends and to anyone who is looking for a really fun quality Drone to fly!

I am really impressed with this little thing. It is really easy to setup and start flying for a noob like me, and the controls are easy to pickup and get used to. The video quality on this here is pretty impressive too, especially considering the price.
The footage is really stable, even when in `sport mode` and going pretty fast (like 20mph in winds) – and the gimbal is easy to control and get the shots that I want without thinking about it too hard.
One thing I noticed is that in `auto` mode while filming, it can really blow out highlights if there is a lot of contrast, say with green trees and white sidewalk. Fortunately you can modify the the ISO and shutter speed to help combat this, but it isn’t always ideal since you only have so many flight minutes per battery. I’m hoping later firmware updates will help here, but I’m not holding my breath – and it isn’t really a big deal.
Battery life is really respectable, I am impressed with how long this thing flies. In my tests its like 20 minutes before I land, but I tend to land with some battery left in case I see something else I want to film or fly over – so I don’t doubt the advertised 30 minute flight time (assuming the right conditions)
The GPS is pretty good, and I quite like the autoreturn and autoland features, but I’ve gotten more comfortable doing both manually (its kind of fun) so I don’t use that as much now. But it works, and works pretty good.
I don’t have any complaints, I really like this thing and look forward to flying it when ever I see a nice day out. It checked all my boxes too:
– be a good price
– have good and stable footage
– have at least 20 minutes of flight time per charge
I didn’t try any of the intelligent flight modes, and I’m not really super interested in them – but if I do try them I’ll update this review with additional information on what I think about them.
But overall: this is a great drone, I love it and would buy another in a heartbeat.

Charges the 3 batteries simultaneously unlike my sons DJI which charges one at a time.
The app is great, follow me works well. I love the quick shots function.

I’ve flown larger drones for years and have enjoyed aerial photography. I’ve limited my flying to calm days as landing the high-chassis drones in a wind is challenging. They are also noisy and attract attention. I happened to hear about the Potensic Atom 3-Axis Gimbal drone and looked into it. After watching dozens of videos on YouTube and reading many reviews here on Amazon I was mildly surprised at all the positive reviews and almost no negatives. I joined Potensic’s Facebook group and was similarly impressed with the positive helpful nature of the feedback there. Since this drone was in the affordability-zone, I went ahead and ordered it.
The Atom 3-Axis was rapidly delivered. My first order was for the complete setup with 3 batteries, carrying case, etc. It was well-packed and not damaged in transit at all. When I opened it up, I immediately felt very pleased. However, it was so small I coudl just imagine how effected it would be by gusty winds.
I read the instructions (one big gripe: the manual is in such small type when printed out it is very hard to read). There was an on-line version that I spent time perusing. Everything makes sense in the manual – just need to learn the procedures for their features.
The drone flys so easily. I totally ignore wind effects as the drone handles positioning quite fine. I’ve flown in 20mph winds with no difficulty. The drone will ask to come home if the winds are too gusty and I’m too far away.
Video and photographic quality are excellent. I can produce satisfying 8×10″ prints from photographs on my ink jet printer with no maniuplation. Video is recorded in 1.7Gb chunks on the included SD card which I download and reassemble on my desktop. Video is crisp and clear even to the point of resolving twigs on trees just beginning to leaf out!
Setup and flying is a joy. I fly in “normal” mode all the time now. I can go fast when needed yet still have control for slow movement needed for video. Range and connectivity are excellent. I don’t fly to terribly far away and I have zero issues with video breakup or loss of control.
I use a Google Pixel 5 as my flight phone. It works very nicely with the Potensic controller. I wish the screen was brighter though as viewing the screen in sunlight is challenging. I’m thinking about using an 8″ tablet instead but one I got was even dimmer than my Pixel. I wish Potensic would sell a 6″ tablet with a sunlight viewable screen! Oh… one gripe… The USB cable between the controller and your phone/tablet is not a standard cable. Only an actual cable from Potensic will work.
Bottom line, I’m just delighted with this drone. The first one I got landed in a tree due to operator error. I was frantic and ordered a replacement right away. Two days later, the drone fell out of a 40 foot tree and hit the ground below. I retrieved it and to my amazement, there was no damage at all! It survived the fall. Only issue was a bit of tree sap on the top of the drone! I’m still flying the original today and have this second one on hot-standby if ever needed. I love this drone!!
